2012 - NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER

May 3, 2012 was proclaimed by the President of the USA, Barack Obama, as a National Day of Prayer. All citizens of the Nation, as their own faith directed them, were invited to give thanks for the many blessings the Nation enjoys, and individuals of all faiths were called upon to pray for guidance, grace and protection for this Nation as it addresses the challenges of the present time (paraphrasing the Presidential Proclamation). The Interfaith Alliance of Central California, an organization which protects faith and freedom, called upon its members and the community in general to celebrate and pray together under the theme ?One Nation, Many Faiths". We went to St. Paul Newman Center on the first Thursday of May to celebrate this great occasion. The sun was setting as we came in and met dear friends and new smiling faces. What a joyous celebration! Different faiths united by an amazing mutual respect and understanding. I felt at home ... The Chapel was so bright and beautiful! When the ceremony started, we felt we were on holy ground. We were asked to be barefoot. I felt the sweet presence of God?s Spirit among us. Songs, prayers, and dances were full of this good and secure feeling of peace. We were different in many ways (God created us different), however we were feeling a sweet closeness. Serenity was all around. A pure feeling of harmony was there. Joy was filling our hearts. We were praising The Creator in our very souls. We were celebrating unity. I believe this was a glimpse of eternity. Equality. Loving each other. Respecting differences. Peace. Togetherness. I tried to capture those feelings in these photos, but I am not sure they can show the full measure of contentment and joy we were feeling, which only God can place in our hearts. It was a very blessed time. PRAISE BE TO GOD! ?BUT THE FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT IS LOVE, JOY, PEACE, FORBEARANCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS AND SELF-CONTROL. AGAINST SUCH THINGS THERE IS NO LAW? (New Testament, Apostle Paul?s letter to the Galatians, chapter 5, verses 22-23)
